Delaware People First Program

A forum for adult self-advocates to network, discuss issues and enjoy social interactions.

Managed by:
Sheba Brown, Outreach Coordinator, New Castle County
Carol Reid Hall, Outreach Coordinator, Kent and Sussex Counties

Established in 1989 and supported by The Arc of Delaware, members meet on a regular basis to learn about policies and developments in housing, transportation, employment and socialization, and determine the impact of those issues on their lives.

Group meetings are held throughout the state, usually held on the fourth Tuesday of the month in New Castle county, and on the fourth Monday in Kent County. Often, these meetings feature guest speakers who are experts in disability issues.

Additionally, members plan group trips throughout the year to destinations such as Washington, D.C., New York City and local theater, to help them grow socially, to learn more about self-advocacy and to have fun together.
