The Delaware McDonald’s® Operator Association hosted a “McCafé® Coffee with a Cause” recognition event benefiting The Arc of Delaware on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Staff members and supporters of The Arc of Delaware were on-site as McDonald’s presented the organization with a $3,000 donation.
“McCafé Coffee with a Cause” kicked off in April with participating McDonald’s restaurants throughout the state of Delaware donating 50 percent of every Monday’s net McCafé coffee sales to a selected charitable organization. This past month, McDonald’s partnered with The Arc of Delaware, an organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Throughout the year, donations from the “McCafé Coffee with a Cause” program will support various local charities within Delaware, including Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Autism Delaware, Delaware Humane Society, and Food Bank of Delaware.
With the help of donors like you, we have been able to provide advocacy, services and programs to thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families throughout Delaware. While those with I/DD strive to become self-sufficient, they have numerous challenges and need support and assistance. We hope you will consider donating to The Arc so that we may continue these vital services and supports for individuals like Roslyn (pictured right, with her husband). At the 2016 DSP Day, the Ability Network of Delaware (A.N.D.) launched a petition drive in support of House Bill 433, legislation that mandates the intellectual developmental disability service system in Delaware be fully funded by the year 2020. A.N.D. and its membership encourages everyone to take part in this campaign by filling out a petition and returning it to our offices.
