The Arc of Delaware recently received two new condominiums thanks to a generous donation from Homes For Life Foundation. The two condos will house a total of four individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Both condos are two-bedroom units within the Justison Landing residential complex in the Riverfront section Wilmington Delaware. The value of the donation from Homes For Life is over $420,000.

Homes For Life was founded in 1999 by Micki Edelsohn and her husband Dr. Lanny Edelsohn. Through the foundation, they have also constructed twenty-five other neighborhood group homes in New Castle County. Twenty-one homes have been donated to The Arc. The Edelsohns have an adult son with an intellectual disability who lives in one of The Arc of Delaware’s group homes.

“The revitalized Riverfront area where these condominiums are located offers an exceptionally rich mix of cultural, recreational, employment and other community integrated opportunities,” said Terry Olson, Executive Director of The Arc of Delaware. “We believe that the persons with intellectual disabilities who choose to live in these condominiums will enjoy an incredible quality of life. We are extremely grateful to Homes For Life for the gift of these condominiums and their continuing support of The Arc of Delaware and the persons with disabilities and their families who it is our mutual mission to serve. We are also extremely grateful to the state’s Division of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDDS) for their partnership with The Arc and for funding the cost-effective services which will be provided within these beautiful new condos.”
