Support for Necessity of Life Fund
The Arc of Delaware receives generous grant to replenish Necessity of Life Fund
The Chimes Foundation has awarded The Arc of Delaware $2,500 in support of its Necessity of Life Fund. This fund is a resource to individuals in Delaware with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help purchase items essential to their quality of life that they would not otherwise be able to afford.
The Necessity of Life Fund was created in 1992 when volunteers noticed that residents at a community group home lacked adequate winter clothing and needed immediate dental care. The fund is used to help group home, residents and others in the community, who do not have involved families or discretionary income for essentials such as bedding, toiletries, utility payments, groceries, eye glasses and dental or medical care. The assistance given greatly enhances quality of life for these individuals.
Chimes Foundation provides ongoing financial support for programs and services which enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities. Chimes and The Arc both focus on the goal of ensuring that all whom they serve are safe, comfortable and that their essential needs are met.
